Confined Space Entry And Rescue Manual

New! Revised 2nd Edition CMC Rescue Staff Recently revised, the CMC Confined Space Entry & Rescue Manual is the textbook for confined space rescue courses taught by the CMC Rescue School. It is the official textbook for the California State Fire Marshal’s state certified confined space rescue courses, and the training manual of choice for fire departments and industrial rescue teams nationwide. All chapters have been updated and expanded for the second edition, and three new chapters have been added: Communications, High Point Anchor Systems, and Permitting Confined Spaces. Color has been added to most of the more than 150 illustrations for improved clarity. CMC’s instructors are recognized experts in confined space entry and rescue training and operations. Their input in refining this manual ensures that it contains the most practical, up-to-date information on laws and regulations for confined space entry, development of a rescue team, assessment and preparation for entry, organization of an emergency response, monitoring for and managing atmospheric and other hazards, rescue equipment, and patient transport. 282 pages. Printed in the USA on FSC paper from responsible sources.
About Our Selection of Books We have compiled an outstanding selection of books on rescue. However, there is no substitute for proper training and time in the field for gaining the skills needed to provide safe and effective emergency assistance. CMC Rescue books are printed in the USA on FSC paper from responsible sources. Please Note: CMC Rescue recognizes that there are many different techniques in rescue. While our book selection reflects the leading authorities and most popular texts, as with all publications, recent developments in equipment and practices may not be included.

Escape Belts

A multipurpose belt for carrying tools that doubles as an NFPA escape belt, our Fire Escape Belt is manufactured of fire-resistant, two-inch Kevlar brand fiber web. The Escape model is constructed of the same mil-spec nylon web used in our harnesses. The snap and V-ring closure is easy to use even with gloved hands. Use the easy-to-find D-ring attachment point for clipping in your descender.

Patient Tie-in System

For many years the accepted method for securing a patient in a litter was improvised internal and external lashings using one-inch tubular web. Critical patient-packaging time could be lost and often the finished lashing was either too tight or too loose. Looking for a quicker and more secure way, we developed our Patient Tie-In System after testing a variety of prototypes in CMC Rescue School classes. The refined product weighs less, is quick and secure, and can be easily adjusted to meet the patient’s requirements for comfort. The available pelvic harness supports the patient’s weight when the litter is placed in a head-up position. Available for a one-piece or two-piece litter and can be used with the pelvic harness system or for a patient on a backboard. Color-coded web helps keep the system organized.

Fastlink Anchor Strap

The Fastest Connecting Anchor Strap Solution Available! Standard anchor straps with D-rings on each end can create tri-axial loading on the connecting carabiner. A delta screw link connecting the two ends of the strap eliminates this hazard, but screw links are slow to fasten and add weight. We’ve eliminated the D-rings and solved both problems with this new design. Simply wrap the strap around the anchor point and clip the integrated ProTech™ Auto-Lock Carabiner into the included 12 mm Delta Quick Link, and you’re ready to connect your system.

Fastlink Pick-Off Strap

This is the only Pick-Off Strap with two carabiners incorporated directly into the strap, which reduces the overall weight. We use the same high-strength, mil-spec web and adjuster hardware as our original Pick-Off Strap. The web begins to slip through the buckle at 17-18 kN (3,800-4,000 lbf). The two ProTech™ Auto-Lock Carabiners with keeper pins are UL Classified to NFPA 1983 – Technical Use.

Variable Anchor Strap

Our Variable Anchor Strap differs significantly in design and performance from other adjustable anchor straps. By using an additional length of web, it can handle a higher load before slipping. It adjusts from 3 ft (91 cm) to 7 ft (213 cm). The D-ring on one end is larger so the other end can pass through, allowing the strap to be rigged in a choker (girth hitch) configuration and still be adjusted. The high strength, quick adjustability and variable length make this strap a jack of all trades. Sewn-on web keeper allows for improved organization when stowed. Note: We recommend using a Delta Quick Link connector (part #382121) to prevent possible tri-axile loading of a carabiner when used in a basket configuration. Strength Specifications with Blue Web:  Basket (U) Configuration: 70 kN (15,736 lbf) End-to-End Configuration: 27 kN (6,070 lbf) Choker Configuration: 30 kN (6,744 lbf) Strength Specifications with Black Web:  Basket (U) Configuration: 60 kN (13,488 lbf) End-to-End Configuration: 29 kN (6,519 lbf) Choker Configuration: 35 kN (7,868 lbf)

Pick-Off Strap

CMC created the Pick-Off Strap so that a rescuer could quickly connect to the victim and then adjust the strap to the desired length. Our Pick-Off Strap works well for positioning the victim for a lowering or rappel-based pick-off, or for an assisted rappel. We added a loop to the end for a more positive grip when pulling to adjust. Our strong 1-3/4 inch web improves long-term durability, especially where the strap threads through the buckle. Depending on how the buckle is loaded, it will begin to slip between 15-20 kN (3,500-4,500 lbf). Tying off the buckle will increase the strength. The integrated Web Keeper™ allows the strap to be carried on a gear sling or harness without tangling or getting caught.

Ferno CPR Polyurethane Board

The Ferno CPR Board provides a firm surface for CPR training and administration. The head cup maintains proper alignment of patient’s head and helps to properly position a patient and ensure a constant, open airway. Contoured sides make lifting the patient easier.

SAM Splints

The SAM (Structural Aluminum Malleable) Splint contains all the properties of the many other splints that it replaces. When folded into a structural bend longitudinally, the splint becomes quite rigid and easily supports the leg, forearm or humerus. X-ray translucent.

SAM Pelvic Sling II

The SAM® Pelvic Sling II is the first and only force-controlled circumferential pelvic belt. It was designed not to over-tighten or under-tighten, which allow unlimited force to be applied to the patient. The SAM® Pelvic Sling II offers a simple one-piece design with no detachable hardware. It is compact, easy to use and quick to apply.

Ferno Frac-Care Kit

The Ferno Frac-Care Kit features versatile limb splints that can be used as lefts or rights. Kit includes adult arm splint, adult leg splint, arm/ shoulder immobilizer, child arm splint, child leg splint, straps, and a carrying case. X-ray translucent and MRI compatible

Ferno Finger Splint Kit

The Ferno Finger-Splint Kit contains a variety of the most commonly used splints. Manufactured from soft aluminum, they are X-ray translucent and easy to apply. These splints are malleable and can be easily formed to fit each patient exactly. The kit includes five different splits in a variety of sizes for a total of 25 splints.
